Overview
Lincoln County was the North Carolina "pilot program" for this innovative nutrition program which provides healthy meals to qualifying seniors.
Seniors become members of the "Health and Wellness Club" which enables them to receive twelve restaurant vouchers per month to be used at the five contracted restaurant sites. Balanced meals of smaller proportions are developed by the senior services nutrition coordinator and prepared at the restaurants.
The Health and Wellness Club is more than a meal, in that it offers participants healthy meals, educational meetings on health related issues, and promotes socialization and independent living.
Funding is limited and clients are added to program based on level of need.
