[ARCHIVED] We Need Your Input! 2020-2029 STIP Adoption & MTP Amendments

With the NCDOT Board of Transportation’s adoption of the 2020-2029 STIP in September, the
GCLMPO must adopt its subset of the STIP, the 2020-2029 Metropolitan
Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP).

The North Carolina Department of Transportation's transportation plan – called the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) – identifies the
construction funding and scheduling for transportation projects
throughout the state over a 10-year period. With the NCDOT Board of
Transportation’s adoption of the 2020-2029 STIP in September, the
GCLMPO must adopt its subset of the STIP, the 2020-2029 Metropolitan
Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP). Amendments to the
GCLMPO’s 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) are required in
order for the MTP and TIP to be consistent. In addition, an air quality
conformity determination is required due to the Clean Air Act’s
requirement that an MPO’s plans and programs conform to the purpose
of the state implementation plan (SIP) for achieving air quality standards. The following public meetings are scheduled to solicit input on the three documents.
