[ARCHIVED] Paul C. Rhyne Art Competition - Further Information

The Arts Council of Lincoln County is very excited to announce the addition of a 3 dimensional category for our annual Paul C. Rhyne Art Competition.

Piedmont Companies, Inc. has graciously agreed to provide funding for our additional category, allowing prizes to be given in both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional categories.

The Paul C. Rhyne Art Competition is an annual exhibition for the ACLC, which was renamed in 2007 in honor and memory of Paul C. Rhyne, a life long resident of Lincolnton and supporter of the Arts Council. The show will run October 5 – November 5, 2010 in the galleries of the Lincoln Cultural Center. There will be an awards presentation and opening reception for artists and the public on Friday, October 15, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 East Main Street, Lincolnton, NC.

Each artist will be allowed to enter two pieces of work and should bring a brief resume and description of each piece. Entry fee for the show is $30 and entitles the artist to enter two pieces of work. Prizes for each category are: 1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $75 and Honorable Mention $25. All work should be delivered to the Lincoln Cultural Center gallery on September 27, 29 & October 1 from 11am - 3pm, or call 704-732-9044 for special arrangements.

Rules for competition are as follows: Adults 18 years or older may submit two original works of art in any medium not exhibited at any previous Arts Council of Lincoln County exhibit. No prints or copies will be accepted. All paintings must be framed and ready for hanging. No saw-toothed hangers are allowed. The size of the artwork may be no less than 12 inches or no greater than 60 inches on any one side. Accommodations are available to exhibit three-dimensional art. Due to space limitations, pieces cannot be smaller than 3 inches or greater than three-foot in dimensions. All art must be hand delivered and picked up. The Arts Council of Lincoln County reserves the right to refuse any work that is not compliant with the rules or is deemed inappropriate for display in a public building. Although all reasonable care will be given to all pieces entered, all entries are submitted at artist risk of loss or damage. All work may be for sale, but any work sold must remain on exhibit until the end of the show. The Arts Council of Lincoln County will retain a 30% commission for all work sold. All pieces may be picked up November 5,8 & 10 between the hours of 11am - 3pm. Arrangements may be made to pick up pieces later at Rising Sun Pottery if needed. For further information or entry forms, please contact the Arts Council at 704-732-9044.

This project is sponsored in part by a grant provided by the Grassroots Art Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a North Carolina state agency and Piedmont Companies, Inc.
