[ARCHIVED] Lincoln County Libraries Hold National Gaming Day @ Your Library

On Saturday, November 13, hundreds of libraries across the country will showcase gaming programs and services in support of the American Library Association’s National Gaming Day @ your library.

The purpose of this initiative is to connect communities with their local libraries through participation in educational and recreational games. Gaming of all types at the library encourages young patrons to interact with a diverse group of peers, share their expertise with others, and develop new strategies for gaming and learning.

Come join the Charles R. Jonas Library and the Florence S. Shanklin Library for an afternoon of video games and board game competitions. The highlight of the day at the Charles R. Jonas Library will be the National Video Game Tournament where Lincoln County participants will be competing against 1,700 other libraries online. This year the competition includes Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Participants will be competing using a Nintendo Wii gaming system linked through our broadband connection.

Gaming is yet another example of how a new format can fulfill the desire to learn, play and yes, read at your library. You can learn more at
