A Public Involvement Meeting is being held on Thursday, February 24 7:00pm at Denver United Methodist Church to seek comment on a proposed amendment to the Lincoln County Zoning Regulations.
Lincoln County is proposing to amend its zoning regulations to address the growth opportunities in the eastern part of the county. Under the proposal, special development standards would apply in an area designated as the Eastern Lincoln Development District. The district would include areas fronting along the following roads:
• N.C. 16 Business
• N.C. 16 Bypass
• N.C. 73
• N.C. 150
• Old Plank Road
• Pilot Knob Road
• Triangle Circle
• Optimist Club Road
• St. James Church Road
• Forney Hill Road
• Campground Road
This proposal would not affect single-family homes or lots. It would apply only to commercial, industrial, multi-family and planned development. A draft of the proposed development standards is available on-line at www.lincolncounty.org/drafteldd or at the Florence Soule Shanklin Branch Library at 7837 Fairfield Forest Road. The proposal has been revised based in part on comments that were received at public involvement meetings in November.
Another public involvement meeting will be held by the Lincoln County Planning Board on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Denver United Methodist Church at 3910 N. Hwy. 16 to provide information about the proposal and receive comments prior to a public hearing.
