Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club Foundation and Lincoln County are pleased to announce that Lincoln County has received a matching grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund in the amount of $ 352,432.
These grant funds along with funds from the Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club Foundation will be used to begin the construction of athletic fields, walking trails, disc golf and playground in the long-awaited park to be located on Galway Lane in Denver.
Lincoln County Board of Commissioners Chairman Alex Patton received official notification of the award by the Parks and Recreation Authority in a letter from Governor Beverly Perdue on October 25, 2012.
The Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club Foundation will be providing the dollar for dollar match for the grant. Sources of the match include the proceeds from Denver Days and other fundraisers, the assets of the former East Lincoln Rescue Squad and community donations.
