The cold snap that came in this week has resulted in damage to the Florence S. Shanklin Library in East Lincoln County. The Library will be closed this week for repairs. Plans are to reopen the Library on Monday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m.
Temperatures in the teens this week caused the boiler in the Library to breakdown. A new boiler has been ordered and will be installed this week. Some minor water damage also occurred when water pipes in the bathroom at the front of the building burst and flooded the bathroom and front entrance. We are pleased to report that the rest of the library is ok and there was NO damage to any library books, shelving, furniture, or other materials.
“The Lincoln County Park and Recreation and Maintenance staff were alert and responded quickly to this situation, they prevented the damage from being much worse,” said Tracy Jackson, County Manager.
