The Lincoln County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) will be holding their 2nd Annual Gang Awareness Symposium on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Lincolnton First Baptist Church located at 201 Robin Road (off Hwy. 150 Bypass).
Registration will begin at 8 am. The program will begin at 8:30 am and will conclude at 5:00 pm.
The program will be moderated by Billy Marsh, Executive Director of Lincoln County Communities In Schools. Opening comments will be given by Jim McIntyre, JCPC Chairman: Lincoln County Sheriff, Tim Daugherty; City of Lincolnton Police Chief, Dean Abernathy; Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce President, Ken Kindley: and Superintendent of Lincoln County Schools, Dr. David Martin.
Following the opening remarks, Detective Harold Jackson from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department will speak on Charlottes Gang of One Program and the importance of community involvement. FBI Agent, James Meade and Lincoln County Sheriffs Office Gang Investigator, Mike McKenzie will follow.
Lunch will be catered by Fatz Café. Lunch speakers will include Sara Brunner, 27B Judicial District Chief Court Counselor; and Teresa Price, NC Deputy Secretary for Community Programs (DJJDP).
