The City of Lincolnton has entered into a contractual agreement with Lincoln County to provide fire suppression services to the Lincolnton Rural Fire District.
The City of Lincolnton has entered into a contractual agreement with Lincoln County to provide fire suppression services to these areas. The area involved in this agreement include areas along Reepsville Rd. from the city limits north to Tinsel Trail as well as areas along Startown Rd. from the city limits north to approximately Ponderosa Rd. With this agreement in place the City of Lincolnton Fire Department will be providing the primary response to these affected areas for all structure fires and fire alarm sounding incidents. The county volunteer fire departments that have served these respective areas will continue to respond to all other fire related and/or other emergency situations as they always have. For structural related fires and alarms these departments will also be responding alongside the City of Lincolnton to those incidents. With the implementation of this agreement, the name of the affected jurisdiction will be known as the Lincolnton Rural Fire District. This agreement will be taking effect on June 1, 2016.
The new NC Insurance Rating for this newly formed district will be set at a 4/9. This means that any and all properties lying within 1000’ of a fire hydrant or other recognized water source would have an insurance rating of a 4. Areas outside of that distance would be rated at a 9. The North Carolina Department of Insurance has been notified of this change and residents living within this affected area are urged to contact their insurance providers to inquire about possible lower rates / premiums due to this change.
