At 10:30 a.m. on July 25, 2016, the Lincoln County Health Director cancelled the No Swimming Advisory issued July 20, 2016, for the cove at Lakewood Subdivision on Lake Norman.
This decision is based on receipt of two successively clean water samples which indicate fecal coliform counts are now below the maximum contaminant level. This meets North Carolina Division of Water Quality standards and therefore the swim advisory has been lifted.
Since the spill, the Lincoln County Public Works has conducted daily water sample testing from three sites near the affected area. The advisory was issued July 20th when approximately 20,000 gallons of sewage spilled from lift station# 28 at 4477 Burton Lane in Denver, NC.
