Lincoln County Health Department has received its first shipment of H1N1 nasal mist vaccinations (400 doses) which are being administered, via a collaborative effort with EMS and CMC-Lincoln, to the first priority groups of health care workers and
emergency responders in Lincoln County...those 49 years of age and under who are otherwise healthy, are not pregnant, or who live with or care for infants under 6 months of age.
These individuals can receive the nasal spray vaccine, which is a live attenuated dose. Other HCW’s and EW’s (those with certain medical conditions or those over 49) must wait for the injectible (inactivated) vaccine to arrive, which hopefully will be soon.
After the priority groups of Health Care Workers and Emergency Workers are vaccinated, and as additional vaccine becomes available to the Lincoln c County Health Department for other priority groups, the public will be notified via the media.
Note: The Health Department has not been notified yet as to whether other local physician practices have yet received their orders for H1N1 vaccine.
Patients are encouraged to call their private physicians for further information.
